Overview
This project involved building a cloud-based Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform that allows users to design, test, and deploy automation workflows. The platform features a user-friendly interface for creating automation scripts, real-time collaboration, and deployment capabilities.
Challenge
At the time, there were limited options for cloud-based RPA tools that offered real-time collaboration and a comprehensive design interface. Existing solutions were either too complex or lacked essential features for effective automation design.
The Process
As I myself designed few RPA workflows, I knew the pain points of existing RPA tools. I started by defining the core features needed for the platform, such as a drag-and-drop interface for workflow design, real-time collaboration, and deployment capabilities. I then created wireframes and prototypes to visualize the user experience. The frontend was built using Angular with TypeScript, while the backend was developed using NodeTs with Socket.IO for real-time communication. MongoDB was used for data storage, and Redis for connecting distributed windows services.
Solution
The resulting platform provides a seamless user experience for designing and deploying RPA workflows. Users can create automation scripts using a visual interface, collaborate in real-time with team members, and deploy their workflows to run on cloud infrastructure. The platform also includes features like version control, error handling, and performance monitoring.
Outcome
The platform was successfully launched and adopted by several enterprises, significantly reducing the time required to design and deploy automation workflows. It received positive feedback for its intuitive interface and robust feature set, leading to increased productivity in automation tasks.

Key Learnings
Building a cloud-based RPA platform provided valuable insights into real-time collaboration, distributed systems, and user experience design. I learned how to effectively manage state in a collaborative environment and optimize performance for complex workflows. Additionally, integrating real-time features with Socket.IO enhanced my understanding of WebSocket communication.
